Over the past 50 years appetizers have gone through many name changes and identities: Appies, tapas, starters, beginners... but at the Schooner the basic idea has always remained the same: Small Plates - Big Flavours

The Sexy Six Pack  Extra small & very sweet handpicked kushi oysters are shucked to order and served with fresh lemon and Tabasco. Also available individually.

Spicy Sautéed Prawns  Our local prawn fisherman dropped these beauties off this morning.  They're a sweet treat caught in our local waters. We quickly sauté them in garlic-sambal butter and serve them with grilled bread for delightful dipping.   

The Schooner's Mini Prawn Poppers  Small tasty prawns are marinated in sambal and lime, then lightly breaded and fried ‘til hot and crispy. Served with our own chipotle mayo. These are really addictive!

2nd Street  Calamari  Lightly seasoned, our West Coast squid is perfectly crispy and tender. Served with fried jalapenos and our fresh tzatziki. 

The Potlatch  An offering of all that's fresh and local... a big steamy bowl of fresh island clams, mussels, salmon, halibut and our own side stripe prawns, all simmering in a light saffron and tomato seafood broth. 

Lemmens Inlet Baked Oysters  Three of our large locally grown oysters are baked in shell with steamed spinach and crispy prosciutto; finished with a fresh lemon hollandaise. 

Black and Blue Tuna  Ahi tuna is rubbed down with black and white sesame seeds and Cajun spices then quickly blackened in a smoking cast iron pan to a perfect medium rare. Garnished with Pacific Rim sauce, wasabi, pickled ginger and tobiko. 

Beef Carpaccio  Hand pressed with fresh cracked pepper then quickly seared, our thinly sliced beef tenderloin is served with capers, shallots, white truffle oil and a balsamic syrup.  

Artisan Mix Green Salad  Artisan-blend mixed greens are tossed in our house balsamic dressing with veggies. 

Warm Goats Nut Salad  Fresh chevre cheese is crusted with toasted hazelnuts and served warm on a bed of organic baby greens and burgundy and honey poached anjou pear fan. Gently tossed in our house balsamic vinaigrette. 

The Ceasar  The classic salad: crispy romaine lettuce tossed with our homemade dressing, topped with hand grated Parmesan and a garlic crustini.
